Disbursement of budget picks up speed

The Comptroller-General's Department has revealed that the government's disbursement of the fiscal 2014 budget had exceeded Bt2.2 trillion, which is Bt74 billion more than last year, while the treasury had standing cash of around Bt495 billion at the end

The government’s stimulus programme to spend the 2014 budget leftover is also proceeding as planned.
Comptroller-General Manat Chamweha revealed that within the 2014 fiscal year, from October 2013 to September 30, 2014, the government had earned income of around Bt2.108 trillion, which is Bt275,500 lower than what was expected for the fiscal year. The biggest income was from collection of taxes from corporate incomes, around Bt535 billion, followed by Bt446 billion from value-added tax and Bt219 billion from personal income tax.
 
Bt2.246 tn spent in FY 2014 
As for government expenditure, he revealed that government agencies and state enterprises had spent a total of Bt2.246 trillion in fiscal 2014, which represented a disbursement rate of 88.96 per cent. The amount is 3.45 per cent or Bt74.84 billion more than the previous fiscal year.
In terms of investments during fiscal 2014, government agencies and state enterprises had invested around Bt284.05 billion or 2.7 per cent (Bt7.475 billion) more than in the previous fiscal year.
Manat also revealed that the government had spent around Bt354.555 billion worth of off-budget capital, or 76.73 per cent of the total Bt462.102 billion that was used to create public jobs and create income through the circulation of working capital such as the fund to help farmers and social fund.
Meanwhile, the comptroller-general said that the government’s stimulus plan to accelerate disbursement of the 2014 budget leftover of around Bt147.050 billion is expected to be completed within the given time-frame – the end of the year – as state agencies had confirmed that Bt132.160 billion from the leftover budget had been spent and there was only around Bt14.890 billion left to spend.
