ALL HOTELS IN the Landmark Group, in Thailand and abroad, are operating as usual despite the murder of a member of the Sihanatkathakul family, which owns the hotel group, its representative said.
The source said Montri Sihanatkathakul, 78, who was killed on Tuesday night, was the elder brother of Jatuporn Sihanatkathakul, who is the hotel group’s president and managing director.
“Montri is not totally linked with hotel management, and the hotels are not affected by his death,” the source said.
Bangkok police said Montri was gunned down at home by his former driver, Prasarn Porduang. Prasarn shot himself to death afterwards. It was reported that Prasarn had left a suicide note at the scene claiming that Montri had cheated him.

The group owns The Landmark Bangkok on Sukhumvit Road, which is claimed to be one of the first five-star hotels in the capital. It also operates three hotels and one apartment building in Britain: Lancaster London, Landmark London, K West, and Basil Street Apartments.
It also owns Thai Nakarin Hospital on Bang Na-Trat Road in Bangkok.
Since 2009, it has extended its business into property development, including the Lancaster Bangkok Hotel, which is under construction.
City police chief Lt-General Sriwara Rangsipramanakul yesterday said the homicide case was not suspected of being involved with drugs; this was a conflict between a boss and his subordinate.
Thung Mahamek superintendent Pol Colonel Ratchapol Chanasrikhajorn said the house’s security-camera footage did not show any third party.
Police, aiming to investigate the linkages and conflicts between Montri and Prasarn that could have led to this tragedy, will interview both men’s relatives and witnesses, totalling 10 people.
