Discounts and extra services will be offered to attract at least 40,000 new members by the end of 2015.
“JCB and KTC are launching the “KTC JCB Platinum” credit card for the first time in Thailand to upgrade the privileges of JCB card holders and expand the member base to cover a larger target group," said Naoya Michishima, managing director of JCB International. "We will work with our partners to offer privileges to members who like to travel to Japan or appreciate the Japanese lifestyle. We are confident that the total spending through the card will rise by 50 per cent."
JCB has presently issued cards in 18 countries to 89 million card holders.
Pittaya Vorapanyasakul, KTC executive vice president for Credit Card Business, said that its study showed that its clients spend more in Japan and more at Japanese restaurants at home.
Among the privileges are access to JCB Plaza Lounge in nine countries; access to Airport Lounge in 28 airports in Japan, as well as in Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, China and Hawaii; up to Bt8 million international travel insurance coverage; free WIFI at more than 200,000 locations in Japan until the end of next June; and discounts.
