To capitalise on the rise of video consumption, Line TV has entered partnerships with content providers such as GMM Grammy, MCOT and Woody World either to supply or co-produce TV programmes for 33 million Line users.

Ariya Banomyong, managing director of Line Thailand, said yesterday that after launching this video-on-demand service via the Line TV application last year, the company had been witnessing strong growth in viewers. In the third quarter, the number of Line TV viewers surged by 118 per cent from the previous quarter.

"Video consumption is still on the rise. Of the total, 60 per cent of Line TV users were aged between 18 and 22. They spent around 1.5 hours watching TV content via the application," Ariya said.

These figures indicate that young audiences are increasingly keen on watching TV programmes online.

To cash in on this development, Line Thailand continues to add exclusive content through joining with new partners.

Yesterday, the company announced its partnership with GMM Tai Hub (GTH), GMM Channel (GMM25), The One Enterprise (One channel), MCOT’s NineEntertain and Woody World.

Under this partnership, those content producers will rerun their famous TV programmes via Line TV immediately after the shows are telecast on free-TV channels.

The programmes range from TV series and entertainment news to variety shows.

Apart from rerunning finished programmes supplied by these content partners, Line Thailand is also opening the door for further collaboration. A TV series named "Stay" is an example of a deeper engagement between Line Thailand and GTH. This series has had more than 4 million views by Line users.

GTH chief executive officer Jina Osothsilp said that after the success of "Stay", her company would co-produce two new projects for next year.
