PADAENG Industry (PDI) has completed the construction of the Nanao solar farm, PDI Asia Solar’s first investment in Japan.

PDI says the investment marks substantial progress in its makeover to the sustainable green business.
The Nanao solar farm with capacity of 2.27 megawatts began commercial operation early this month.
Construction of a second project, the 10.5MW Nogata solar farm, has begun, and is scheduled for commercial operation in the second quarter of next year.
The solar-farm projects in Japan mark milestones for PDI in reaching its sustainable green business goals, managing director Francis Vanbellen said yesterday.
In 2014, PDI reassessed its business structure in anticipation of a shift towards the green business, with the objectives to increase eco-efficiency and foster sustainable growth.
The company is structured in three business units – PDI Energy, providing energy mainly from renewable sources; PDI Materials, providing high-added-value materials mainly from recycling; and PDI Eco, providing eco-management services for waste.
PDI Asia Solar Co is a 100-per-cent subsidiary of PDI Energy Co, which is a 100-per-cent subsidiary of PDI.
