THE CHINAWORLD shopping centre, the retail and wholesale textile mall of Central Group in Bangkok’s Pahurat area, plans to expand from 200 stores to 250 in five years.

Sales are targeted to rise 7 per cent to Bt750 million next year from Bt700 million projected this year.
Lertvit Pumipitak, senior executive vice president for business development, said yesterday that Chinaworld was founded in 2009 after Central Group saw the business opportunities in the Pahurat area, which is well known for the variety of fabrics sold there.
Central Group adjusted its marketing plan from Central Wangburapa to Chinaworld, which is outstanding as the biggest centre of assorted fabric rolls in Pahurat. It gathers almost 200 fabric-roll stores, divided into 80 per cent wholesale and 20 per cent retail.
Chinaworld welcomes about 15,000 shoppers per day, of whom 80 per cent are from small and medium-sized enterprises and 20 per cent general customers.
Chinaworld is expected to achieve sales revenue of more than Bt700 million this year, since clothing is still one of consumers’ needs, especially now that black clothes are in great demand.
Chinaworld will boost sales by applying promotions to serve all customer’ fabric needs.
