JAYMART plans to spend Bt50 million opening up to 10 camera shops by the end of this year.

The shops, under the Jaycamera brand, are forecast to draw in revenue of Bt800 million in 2017.
Within three years, the company hopes to claim 40 per cent of the camera market for the lead position in Thailand, with revenue of Bt4 billion.
Chief marketing officer Narathip Wirunechatapant said the Thai camera market’s growth potential prompted the company to set up the Jaycamera chain, providing mid-to-high range models and accessories.
The chain will focus mainly on mirror-less and digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras in the Bt20,000 to Bt200,000 range. Young people are the target customers.
The company opened the first Jaycamera shop in the Fashion Island department store. The other shops will be opened in Central and The Mall department stores in and around Bangkok.
The main brands for the shops are Nikon, FujiFilm, Olympus, Sony, Casio, Canon and GoPro. In May, the chain will start selling upmarket smartphones such as the Huawei P10.
Narathip said that by the end of this year the Thai camera market would reach about Bt8 billion. The company is looking to gain about 10 per cent the market, or Bt800 million, in revenue by that time.
By the end of 2019, the company says it will have about 50 Jaycamera shops nationwide and also sell camera products at more than 200 Jaymart shops. It is from these and other channels that the company hopes to reach the Bt4 billion revenue mark,
“The camera market is experiencing strong competition and newcomers keep entering,” Narathip said. “But there is high potential and sustained growth in the market.
“We are staging the Jaycamera Show 2017 from March 31 to April 6 at the Fashion Island department store in order to support our marketing efforts.”
