Saying it’s easy to obtain the card via its K Plus mobile app, KBank expects to issue 200,000 Pokemon cards over the course of a year.
By the end of 2017, KBank aims to have more than 12 million debit cards in customers’ hands and total card spending at Bt70 billion, first senior vice president Supaneewan Chutrakul said on Monday.
As of August, there were 11.7 million K-Debit Cards in use, representing a market share of 15.3 per cent, generating spending of Bt44.9 billion, 30 per cent higher than last year.
The remarkable increase in use is credited in part to KBank’s policy of issuing highly secure chip-embedded cards, and to the government’s promotion of debit cards rather than cash.
K-Debit Cards have garnered a 40-per-cent market share in spending, Supaneewan said.
