The move is aimed at encouraging Thai children and youth nationwide to access quality content at home suitable for their age, Jirathiti Rojananon, general manager of Nextstep, said.
“It also aims to develop quality people for the country by offering content suitable for children of different age groups,” said Jirathiti.
For example, Good TV offers Baby TV channel targeting babies aged under 4, Nat Geo Wild and Animal Show for children aged 5 to 12, and MySci channel for teenagers aged between 14 and 18.
“Content is very important for brain development of babies and kids. We carefully search for and produce quality content to offer to Thai kids and youths. We really hope to play a part in preparing the country’s talents and to be a part of Thailand 4.0,” said Jirathiti.
The company is shaping Good TV as a necessary educational utility for family viewing at home. People can access the content via the Good TV satellite platform.
“Satellite TV is the right platform to make Good TV the education hub for children nationwide, as satellite TV has nationwide coverage at affordable cost,” said Jirathiti
He said Good TV content was available free of charge with the only expenditure being a set-top box and the implementation cost, for an initial payment of Bt690 and a monthly fee of Bt300. Jirathiti said the company aims to have at least 100,000 subscribers by the end of 2019.
“The company invested Bt250 million to absorb the cost of a set-top box, the implementation and equipment. We aim to achieve a monthly fee of Bt360 million by the end of 2019,” Jirathiti said.
Apart from channels for children, Good TV is also offering 60 other channels of which about 40 are high-definition.
He added that Good TV aims to offer not only quality content but also quality media with satellite signal from Intelsat, along with the offer of full HD 1080p with H.265 HEVC technology.
