The police are investigating how a set of old interrogation reports of some celebrities over their alleged drug use was leaked and surfaced on Facebook, according to the Myanmar Police Force.

Earlier this month, old interrogation reports of popular actresses Soe Myat Thuzar and Nawarat were circulated online, exposing the identities of popular celebrities and directors who were using methamphetamine tablets.
“We are currently investigating this issue. We will inform you about the procedures taken by the police when the time is right,” said Police Major Ko Ko Aung from the Myanmar Police Force.
“We are investigating how these reports surfaced [on Facebook],” he added.
After the reports were released online, the Myanmar Motion Picture Organisation issued a statement calling for netizens to stop sharing them online as some celebrities have been wrongfully named in the reports while some have been trying to walk the right path, while the reports have damaged the dignity of the celebrities and their families.
“If we find any wrongdoing, we will take action in accordance with the law,” said Police Lt-Colonel Win Kyi, head of Yangon Region’s Western District Police Force. “It is not true that we don’t take action against celebrities and civil servants while we take action against other people. We will take action against them in accordance with the law. We have already taken action some celebrities for using drugs.”
Facebook user Moe Zay Nyein, who originally posted the interrogation reports, wrote that many celebrities and families and relatives of senior military officials were named in the statements, but no action has been taken against them.
