The statement claimed it was an "intentional" attack and denounced it as a cowardly act.
The UNFC also says it's very doubtful that the Myanmar Army truly has its heart in the national peace process currently under way, warning that the attack would be a big obstacle to building mutual understanding.
The UNFC said in the statement that the attack can be understood as a part of a larger political and military conspiracy since it concurred with a statement made by Parliamentary Speaker Thura Shwe Mann saying that charter change would be enacted after the 2015 general election.
The organisation says it will decisively oppose any acts that could mislead or delay the nationwide ceasefire and the national peace process.
