The family of five left France on Jan 22, 2015 and were in Kuala Lumpur to exhibit their contemporary digital artworks at the Vallette Art Gallery in the capital.
Their Italian-made Bremach 4WD left Belgium for Singapore earlier on a vessel and arrived a month later at the republic on Jan 15.
Thierry Nivaux, 58, his wife Pascale Nivaux, 37, daughter Sarah Gineau Delyon, 26, son Dae Nivaux, 11, and Sarah’s son Florentin Gineau Delyon, 16 months old, travelled from Kuala Lumpur to pick up their vehicle.
“This is the first time we are travelling to Asia with Malaysia being our first stop, before continuing to the other countries in the region,” Thierry said
Thierry said their maiden journey took them to African countries between 2010 and 2011, covering almost 25,000km.The family visited West African countries such as Mauritania, Mali, Senegal and Burkina Faso.
In 2012, they drove from Los Angeles to New York. From there, they went on to Panama.
“In 2013, we spent the whole year in Central American countries before returning to our French home,” said Thierry.
Pascale said they took a break for two years and in December made an impromptu decision to start travelling again to Asia.
She said the journey was “killing two birds with one stone” as they would also exhibit their artwork at the gallery from January until March this year.
From Johor Baru, the family will travel to Kuala Lumpur, Perak, Penang and into Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and China.
