Johnnie Walker Blue Label celebrated epic achievements of past and present and the recent launch of a new look for its iconic luxury bottle at the recent Epic Achievement gala dinner at the St Regis' Aster Ballroom.
The whisky brand also presented the unprecedented "Epic Achiever" award to two individuals who have positively changed the world around them.
The two Epic Achievers - GMM Grammy chief executive Paiboon Damrongchaitham and Minor International chief executive William Heinecke - were honoured with a certificate of Epic Achievement and two of the 1,867 specialized numbered bottles.
The Blue Label is a commemoration of Alexander Walker's remarkable Old Highland Whisky of 1867 and demonstrates the same rare commitment to flavour and craftsmanship. It is an extraordinary whisky crafted for those with discerning taste.
The whisky has a mellow, rounded nose, with a dry smokiness (a Johnie Walker signature flavour) mixed with raisin sweetness. It's best savoured with the palate cleansed and cooled by iced water.
This glamorous night attracted a huge turnout of news media members and celebrities. They included Pracha and Dan Hetrakul, Sudhitham Chirathivat, Wittawat and his daughter Leela Soontornvinate, Chula-payap and Yuki Srikarnchana, Chadapah Snidwongs, Weerasak Choonhajak, Paween and Pimpawan Limpichart, Atikrai and Claire Chatikavanich, Srikanya Sakdidej Panupan and Matthew and Cathleen Kichodhan, and many other distinguished guests
In the foyer, all guests were mesmerised by an exhibition of the era of Johnnie Walker that took us on a journey marked by craftsmanship, heritage and supreme quality.
"Blue and Bitters" was served at the reception to reflect the quality of the liquid. Also on the tray were small quantities of the aromas angostura bitter, orange bitter, and honey. By combining the Blue Label with aromas of their choosing, guests could create a personalised experience that drew out specific aromatics of the whisky. All drinks were specially created by Vipop Jinaphan, Thailand's winner of Diageo World Class 2011, the competition to find the world's best bartender as well as Bennie and Dannie Sorum from Flow Cocktails.
Guests then were treated to a spectacular six-course dinner prepared by the executive chef from St Regis. They dined in style, entertained by the melodies from legendary artists Charas Faungarom, Maleewan Jemeena and Pom Autobahn.
During the dinner, Danny Celoni, commercial director of Diageo Moet Hennessey (Thailand), introduced Jonathan Driver, global brand ambassador of Johnnie Walker Blue Label who took guests on a journey to explore the history of the brand and the new product.
"Our new bottle and packaging sets out to celebrate the original 19th century bottle, with its iconic square shape, blue glass and thick glass base," said Driver.
