Journalists need to take the middle path

Re: "Conveniently ignoring the truth", Opinion, October 7.

Thank you Thanong Khanthong for a very sharp and illuminating overview of the ongoing Wall Street protests. There are both obvious and subtle parallels to the Bangkok troubles of 2010 and the media tendancy to obviscate, over-simplify and, worst of all, take sides. Indeed this MO has become a blight on all forms of journalism, in every so-called democracy, for a generation now. Spotlighting this current hypocricy is most welcome.
To be fair, I often find myself in direct opposition to many of your views, politically and socially, but a steadfast dedication to your craft has been very evident throughout the years I have been reading your contributions to The Nation. Let us hope that a “middle path” when covering all social and political schisms becomes the norm as the world enters a particularly fractious time in its history. The more cool hearts out there, the better, I’m sure you would agree.
