There will be 150 crewmembers looking after logistics for the fivetime Grammy Award winner who is flying into Bangkok for the Thai leg of the Asian “Born this Way Ball” tour to be staged at the Rajamangala stadium on May 25.
BEC Tero, the promoter of the year’s most anticipated show, held a press conference on Wednesday to announce that everything is set for the upcoming show, which marks Lady Gaga’s first tour since the release of her album “Born This Way” released last May. It is also the first time she’ll be visiting fans in Thailand.
The concert is expected to draw more than 50,000 fans and security is the main concern. With such a massive crowd, the traffic will also be a problem. But the police promise to do their best.
“We are sending 630 police officers, 150 of which are traffic police, to oversee the concert on May 25.” Police Colonel Sanhakit Bumrungsuksawat from Hua Mark Police Station said at the press conference.
To relieve the traffic and the possible chaos from the crowd, BEC Tero’s managing director Neil Thompson recommends fans arrive at the stadium early. The gate opens at 5.30pm even though the concert doesn’t start until 8.30pm.
Like all her shows, the stage will be state-of-the art in a 3D design with a moving fivestorey castle. All equipment requires eight days to install for each concert and the Bangkok show is no exception. And as the artist is recognised for her sense of style in fashion, the show will see Lady Gaga change her outfit 15 times and she will also wear the Giorgio Armani outfits designed specially for the tour.
There will be no compromises on the musical instruments either, with more than 5,000 guitar strings being brought in for the “Born This Way Ball” world tour. And altogether 416 hours will be spent performing live during the tour.
