Symbols in yellow and red
Chiang Mai’s art scene continues to grow, with Bangkok’s H Gallery launching a branch there. It opens on June 3 with a debut show by Mit Jai Inn, who’s based in the northern city.
Curated by Brian Curtin, Mit’s “Untitled” exhibition features new paintings created especially for H Chiang Mai. Mit plays with references to the Thai national flag and divisive factions from the political landscape signified by particular colours. The show runs through July 31.
H Gallery Chiang Mai is located 500 metres beyond the Tiger Kingdom in Mae Rim, a short drive from Dara Pirom Palace Museum. Call (085) 021 5508.

Go-go to a wedding
Soon-to-be brides with a sense of the dramatic should check out Comme des Garcons’ spring-summer 2012 collection at Club 21 on the second floor of the Erawan Bangklok.
Rei Kawakubo’s “White Drama” collection is influenced by the fashion of the ’60s and features a pristine ivory long-sleeved duchess-satin shift with a sumptuous, curving pouff in the back that’s paired with white Courreges-era go-go boots.

A new devil in the mix
Gamers celebrated last week’s release of the third edition of the cult game “Diablo”, with a crowd of more than 1,500 gathering around a stage built at the foot of the Ferris wheel at the Irvine Spectrum, a shopping centre near developer Blizzard Entertainment’s headquarters in southern California.
Anticipation for “Diablo III” has bubbled over because the previous entry was released 12 years ago, a lifetime in the gaming world when compared with franchises like “World of Warcraft” and “Call of Duty,” which regularly receive updates.
In the third chapter of “Diablo”, players choose such characters as barbarian, demon hunter, monk, witch doctor or wizard to battle hellish minions.
