The Johnnie Walker yacht moors in Bangkok to host a fantastic party

Johnnie Walker bid farewell to 2012 earlier than most folk but with a bash that easily won the prize for party of the year. Dubbed the “Ultimate Celebration of an Epic Odyssey”, the party was hosted aboard and around the John Walker & Sons “Voyager”, which was moored at Rama III Pier for the occasion.
The isolated cargo ship pier on Rama III was transformed into a “blue mansion,” taking on the aura of a large European house of the 1930s and serving as an exclusive marina for the luxury yacht. The “Voyager” was in Bangkok for just four days before sailing off to another destination in the Asia Pacific region, following the old whisky trade route of bygone days.
To mark this once-in-a-lifetime occasion, Johnnie Walker Blue Label decided to throw a big party to celebrate the epic odyssey of its founding masters – the Walker family. The party drew inspirations from the 1930s with five-star food and drinks and a number of performances designed to please the invited A-list guests. One of the highlights was a chance to board the 187-foot “Voyager”.
Guests arrived to the sweet sounds of harp and a signature cocktail then relaxed with the river as the backdrop. Inside the mansion, guests were tempted with a series of five-star dishes served with cocktails made from world-class Scotch whisky. The courses included caviar, foie gras, wagyu beef, Alaskan king crab, oyster and lobster while desserts featured such favourites like macaron with a hints of Blue Label and “Dom Perignon” jelly mixed with berries.
US-based William and the Earth Harp headlined an evening of entertainment, wowing guests as they performed on strings that stretched from the top of the mansion to a floating island. The longest harp strings in the world were accompanied by an electric drum cloud, then extravagant fireworks for a truly celebratory feel.
Also joining the evening was the global brand ambassador of Johnnie Walker Blue Label, Tom Jones, who brought everyone back to the starting point of the label’s trade journey. The history of whisky was revealed, along with the arts and sciences of whisky drinking, through interactive touch screen monitors.
