In his case the crowd is his growing horde of fans. Their support is of course a huge boon, but fans can sometimes create problems too.
It started with a silly story that James had refused to pose for a picture with TV host Sujira “Nui” Arunpipat. They’d just finished comparing notes ready for a stage appearance together and she asked for a snapshot of the two of them, but he politely declined because he wasn’t dressed properly.
Nui, not in the least offended, casually mentioned the amusing story online – and all fan hell broke loose, leading to Nui shedding tears when reporters asked what happened. She was overwhelmed by the fury of James’ devotees, many of whom accused her of using him to grab publicity. James realised he’d better tell his fan club to lay off the poor woman.
Channel 3 director Yuthana “Pa Jaew” Iopanpaibul, whom James affectionately calls “Mum”, tweeted him a lesson. “Being a star is like being naked,” he said. “You’re always going to be scrutinised by the public.” And Pa Jaew warned fans of any celebrity not to jump to conclusions or react irrationally. Their heroes might be wrong too.
“James is no angel, and if he does something wrong, we must criticise. Sometimes it’s too much to just flatter him all the time.”

Hot or not?
Sara Malakul Lane hasn’t been in Thailand for years, pursuing her acting career elsewhere. She’s in the recent movies “12/12/12” and “100 Degrees Below Zero”. But she’s back now for what she calls a “very challenging” film role. “I’m still discussing the role, but I wouldn’t come all the way here for just a walk-on,” she told the press.
Aware that Sara the model will also be appearing in girlie magazine FHM’s British edition in November, reporters asked if the Thai movie is going to be an erotic romp. She would only say that she’s ready to “give it all” for the role. The reporters, visibly aroused by now, asked if her breasts really were bigger than they remembered.
Clinging to coy mode, Sara simply declared she has the right to do what she wants to her body and is currently quite proud of her figure. “Plastic surgery is not wrong or weird, but I reserve my right not to answer whether I’ve had it,” she said. “Sexiness is the way to go for me, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to be nude. It can comes from your eyes and your gestures.”
Perhaps by now Sara could read the word “porn” in everyone’s eyes. “You have to differentiate between an actress and a porn star. I think that, if you reveal bits here and there and strike the right poses, you can be sexy. It depends on how to express your emotions and act through your eyes!”
