Representing Thailand in the contest is Khon Kaen poet Angkan Chanthathip. He won the award 2013 for his collection of verse, “Hua Jai Hong Thi Hah” (The Heart’s Fifth Chamber).
According to the organising committee, the year 2013 is a very special year for The SEA Write Award as it marks the Award’s 35th Anniversary which propitiously coincides with Bangkok having been officially recognsied as “2013 Book Capital of the World” by UNESCO.
On this special occasion Her Majesty the Queen has graciously designated Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to preside at this year’s Awards Presentation Ceremony and Gala Luncheon, confirmed for October 14 from 10.30am in the Royal Ballroom of Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok.
The Southeast Asian Writers Awards has become one the region’s most prestigious literary awards since its establishment in 1979 by Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, Thai Airways International, and the Italthai Group of Companies, to encourage writers in the ASEAN countries and to bring recognition to the creative literary talents of the region.
