A-list fans of veteran crooner Tony Bennett recently turned out to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel’s Royal Ballroom for a very special charity concert featuring the 87-year-old singer.
The concert was organised by the Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn Foundation for Chitralada School in collaboration with the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand under the Patronage of His Majesty the King and BEC-Tero Entertainment and the Bt5.7 million raised from the charity event will go to support the Princess’s foundation.
Former deputy prime minister Suwat Liptapanlop, who chaired the organising committee, was on hand to welcome guests, who included Thanpuying Angkarb Boonyatthiti, Thanpuying Tasniya Punyagupta, Khunying Charmaree Sindvongs, ML Thongmakut Thongyai, Dr Vichit Suraphongchai, Dr Chaiya and Tipsuda Yimwilai, Harald Link, Lt Gen Phannuvich Pumhirun, Charamporn Jotikasthira, Sudhitham Chirathivat, Sanhajutha Chirathivat, Palita Suvanadat, Maneenuch Smerasut and Chalitrat Chandrubeksa.
As guests enjoyed an exclusive five-course dinner set, Bennett took the stage to perform such golden oldies as “Watch What Happens”, “They All Laughed”, “Maybe This Time”, “I Got Rhythm”, “Shadow of Your Smile”, “That Old Black Magic”, “When You’re Smiling” and “Fly Me To The Moon”
The money raised from the evening will support educational management at Chitralada School as well as social activities linked with community interests and development under the Princess Foundation.
