Fashion headlines help design magnificent Valentine jewellery

IT’S VALENTINE’S EVE AND, |if you’re still in need of a gift for someone special, there’s a gorgeous box of jewellery created by seven top Thai designers on sale on Siam Paragon’s M Floor. (You can still buy one anytime through Monday if she doesn’t mind a tardy arrow from Cupid’s bow.)
Milin and Premiera’s “Love Triangle” ring reflects an observation by designer Milin Yuvacharuskul and Premiera Jewellery owner Achiraya Inkatanuvat Worawongwasu that people still searching for love deserve an emotional boost.
The setting is three triangles decorated with diamonds. Every woman should love herself, they believe – and have a diamond ring. And why wait for someone else to buy it for her? Buying your own ring is a lovely expression of self-love.
The “Bling Blossom” trio of rings by Vatanika and Sette draws its inspiration from Vatanika’s spring-summer clothing collection and bears a porcelain-rose motif created by Vatanika’s favourite artist, Jacob Petit. A diamond, an amethyst, a pink tourmaline and pink and orange sapphires complete the allure. The three rings can be worn separately and there are earrings in a matching floral motif, plus an ornate, “porcelain-inspired” diamond ring.
Disaya “Aom” Sorakraikitikul of the fashion house Disaya and Nichaya Thamavaranukup of Blue River Jewelry collaborated on “Oh! Darling”, a collection celebrating wholehearted love. Framed with pearls, the ruby-encrusted heart-shaped ring and earrings have diamonds as centrepieces, and the word “LOVE” is inscribed, moving along with the wearer’s motions.
A necklace by Mollika Ruangkritya of Kloset and Krit Orsiriwikorn of Bijoux De Louise extends the joys of love to parents, siblings, friends and even pets with “I love my King” and “I Love my Darling” diamond necklaces. It’s not so formal that it can’t be worn every day. And you can swap the 90-per-cent-gold lace for pearls for an even classier look.
For those too shy to express their love, Munchumas Numbenjapol of Munchu’s and Patchareeporn Jiraprachaya of P&P Jewelry can help make that declaration with a simple set of rings bearing the words “always”, “care”, “forever”, “only” and “you”. Combine them as your heart dictates to send an unforgettable message.
Senada Chanita Preechawitayakul of the clothing label Senada and Tanida Pakdeevutitam of Rajdamri Gems have borrowed Botticelli’s famous painting “The Birth of Venus” for a necklace called “Le Saint Valentin”. The Goddess of Love’s flowing hair becomes a free-form necklace decorated with vintage-cut diamonds. It can be 16 or 18 inches long.
Asava founder Polpat Asavaprapha and Piya Ahchariyasripong of the Gems Pavilion offer a classic diamond ring, “Real Luxury is Everyday Use”, that is a triumph of true beauty. The valuable materials combine with a design that’s cleverly simple as a metaphor for what everyday love should be.
