Any flies wishing to land on Jirayu “James Ji” Tangsrisuk for a leisurely peck around will need to be very speedy about it. As if the actor doesn’t have enough work in Thailand already, his manager is lining up jobs in South Korea. On top of the numerous commercial gigs starring Thailand’s highest-paid actor, James Ji is now poised to take the stage in Incheon for a concert.
Manager Charnchalard Taweesab is arranging a press conference “soon” to unveil details of “the first Incheon-Bangkok Dream concerts” in Thailand and South Korea – that’s right, one here and one there. “They were interested in him and came to observe his recent meet-and-greet with the Thai fans,” Charnchalard says. “They want James to sing alongside some of the Korean stars. He’ll sing three songs in Bangkok and one in Korea.”
And the dual concerts are apparently just a warm-up for the imminent Asian Games in South Korean at mid-year. Charnchalard insists that the overseas appearance isn’t just a matter of broadening the actor’s commercial appeal but an honour for him, since he’ll be “representing” Thailand.
James isn’t exactly a fresh face in South Korea, of course. He underwent training in Seoul with Cube Entertainment, one of that country’s top showbiz firms, and it’s keen to join hands with him when the chance arises.
Parent trap evaded
Actors Chatayodom “Chai” Hiranyatithi and Sunisa “Vicky” Jett have just celebrated their second wedding anniversary and things are thrumming along beautifully. They went out for dinner for the occasion, and Chai tells Thai Rath Online they’re off to Phuket for three days.
“However,” all the fussy gossips are loudly saying, two years and no baby? What’s up with that? They ought to be way past romantic evenings out by now and stuck at home changing diapers.
Yes, says Chai (who’s meanwhile also become a television producer), their own parents have been asking the same question. And, frankly, he’s on their side – “Let’s have a baby and make some grandparents.” But he doesn’t want to put pressure on Vicky and is quite happy to wait until she’s good and ready. “Even if we never have a child, we’ll be fine and happy anyway,” he says.
Maybe we’d better check in with Vicky too, to be fair. It seems she’s not expecting to be “in the mood” for motherhood anytime soon. Vicky appeared recently on Channel 3’s “Tonight Show” with host Tripop Limpapat and, naturally, was asked the big question. She’d like to wait another year or so if it’s all the same to the rest of Thailand, she said.
“Well,” Tripop ventured, “is it true that you’re afraid of getting out of shape and becoming ugly if you get pregnant?” Fortunately Vicky found that amusing and laughed out loud while saying no. “I’m just not ready yet! And Chai also has a TV series to produce. We’d better wait for the right time.”
Right, then, we’ll try out this “patience” thing.
