A tiny new Bluetooth speaker blasts out the sounds

Nakamichi NBS2N is a new Bluetooth speaker that is amazingly loud for its tiny size.
The NBS2N, which replaces Nakamichi’s popular 2013 NBS2 model, has a footprint of only 66mm (L) x 66mm (W) and 65mm (H) but pumped out enough decibels to easily fill my large living room.
And now the new model comes with NFC technology, allowing it to be paired with a smartphone with a simple tap.
The NBS2N also supports playback of MP3 files stored on a microSD card and even boasts a FM tuner.
It uses Bluetooth V3.0 technology so it can stay about 10 metres away from the linked smart phone.
Apart from functioning as a speaker system, the NBS2N can also work as your Bluetooth hand-free speakerphone. You answer a call by simply touching a button on top of the speaker. The microphone is built-in microphone making the device hands-free.
Looking rather like a jar, the speakers are available in four colours: black, white, black with a gold stripe around the middle and black with a blue stripe.
The body is made of high-quality material that also shields against noise so the speaker reproduces good quality sound.
NBS2N has four LED-lit sensitive touch buttons on top for controlling its operations. Two buttons are used for increasing and decreasing volume as well as for changing tracks. A mode button switches between modes while the pause and play button allows you to receive phone calls.
There’s a power switch near the bottom along with a micro-USB port for recharging the battery, and a 3.5mm stereo-in jack for hooking up a portable MP3 player.
Recharging the battery takes about two hours for full charge and it supports about four hours of playback.
To connect it to an NFC-enabled smartphone, simply tap the back of your phone to the bottom of the NBS2N and your phone will ask if you want to Bluetooth-link it with the NBS2N. I tried it with the Samsung Galaxy S3 and had no problems.
If you don’t have an NFC-enabled smartphone, turn on your phone’s Bluetooth and search for the NBS2N speaker.
The microSD slot supports cards up to 64-GB card. I tried it with a 16-GB microSD card without any problems.
During the test, I was impressed by the volume of the NBS2N as well as its mids and highs. And when I sat near it, I could feel some bass power.
The music was loud and clean and enjoyable especially the melodies. I played my usual test CD, the instrumental “Sax for Sex – Beautiful Night”, and the saxophone sounded amazingly sweet. Hard rock also sounded good.
And despite playing the music loud, there was no distortion until I turned it up to the highest volume level.
The Nakamichi NBS2N retails for Bt2,490. It’s available at leading gadget outlets, Munkong Gadget stores as well as online at including Lazada.com, ToHome.com, AppAccThai.Com and Tarad.com.
