One of the best preserved spots in Thailand, the town of Chiang Khan in Loei province is playing host later in the year to a cold season music festival featuring some of the Kingdom’s favourite acts.
Some 10,000 people are expected to turn out for the Chiang Khan Music Festival, which has as its theme “Cool for Fun” and is being held in chilly November at Sheep Mountain.
More than 50 artists have signed up for the show, among them Palmy, Moderndog, Singto Numchok, Bank Clash, Room 39, Ben Chalathit, WhatChaRaWalee, Jetset’er, AB Normal, ETC and Lipta.
Intira Wongmalawanich and Apichai Tiyanukulmongkol of the organiser For Fun Group, recently hosted a press conference at CentralWorld to talk about the upcoming fest and brought Singto Numchok, Room 39 and WhatChaRaWalee along with them.
Singto played an acoustic set that featured “Ai”, “Arunsawad” as a sunny pop tune, and “Yoo Tor Loey Dai Mai”.
Los Angeles-based Thai band Room 39, featuring Chutimon “Mon” Vichitrissadee, Isara “Tom” Kitnitchee, and Olran “Wan Yai” Chujai, was next on stage performing “Chua Mong Thi Suay Ngam” and “Rak Khrai Mai Dai Aik.”
The three members of retro soul-pop band WhatChaRaWalee, vocalist and songwriter Monchai “Pum” Satayathep, guitarist Sanchai "Milk" Kanjanarat and drummer Sarawut “Jub” Wuthikul, didn’t play for the assembled media but instead urged music fans to come along to the show.
“We would like everybody to take part in this concert in Chiang Khan. It will be great fun and a chance to experience really cool weather while learning about the culture of the local residents, Monchai says.
Fans can choose between staying in one of Chiang Khan’s many guesthouses or in a tent at the venue itself.
