ICON SIAM, the Bt50-billion mixed-use property currently under construction on the bank of the Chao Phraya River, recently hosted an event at the Shangri-La Hotel for more than 1,500 guests to introduce the glamorous retail and entertainment complexes to which it will be home and the “Seven Wonders by the Chao Phraya River” which visitors will be able to enjoy.

Icon Siam stands at the very centre of a plan to unveil the glory of the Chao Phraya River as a global destination.
“Icon Siam is committed to presenting the Kingdom’s outstanding features, among them Thai wisdom, exquisite craftsmanship, unique architectural elements, history, traditions and culture. It will be the first time that such a large project in Thailand will present so many aspects of the Thai character,” Chadatip says.
Guest of honour, Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, received a warm welcome from Chadatip along with Icon Siam’s chairman Pasinee Limatibul, vice chairman Narong Chearavanont and fellow directors Katevalee Napasab and Thippaporn Chearavanont Ahriyavraromp.
Guests were treated to a model mapping presentation and a music performance from Filipina singer Lea Salonga. The memorable evening ended with a cruise on the river.
Covering 525,000 square metres, Icon Siam will consist of two upscale shopping complexes, two waterfront residential condominiums and a multitude of world-class attractions labelled the “Seven Wonders”. They include Southeast Asia’s longest, on-land multi-media water-and-fire feature and a museum of treasures featuring Thailand’s heritage and wisdom.
More than 500 retailers have already booked space in the shopping malls, which along with the rest of the property are designed on the concept “Icons within an Icon”. Key features will include the River Park, the Icon Siam Heritage Museum and Venice of the East, the first indoor floating market offering the best of Thai brands from every province. More than 100 restaurants will be scattered around the complex, including Thailand first three-Michelin-star eatery.
Icon Siam, which will be completed in 2017, will also be easily accessible by land, rail and water.
