Former national golfer Methee Sudasna na Ayudhya will run against former Sports Authority of Thailand governor Santiparb Tejavanija in the Professional Golf Association of Thailand presidential election on April 21.

Methee, 61, officially launched his campaign yesterday and received support from several golfers, including Boonchu Ruangkit, Prom Meesawat, Attaphon Sriboonkaew and Sattaya Supupramai.
“As a former national player and a teaching pro, I’m determined to improve the image of Thai professional golf and I believe I can bring about a change in the circuit,” said Methee, who represented Thailand between 1975–1985.
Santiparb, a former Olympic Council of Asia executive member, announced his candidature a fortnight ago.
The two candidates are supported by two big brewers – Methee by the maker of Singha and Santiparb by the maker of Chang.
Methee, a former coach of LPGA player Patcharajutar Kongkraphan, said his short-term policy is to organise more tournaments for all level of players and longer term improve the quality of human resources in golf.
“There will be no less than 43 events in one year, 12 in Thai PGA Tour, 12 in Thai PGA Challenge, 12 in Mini Thai PGA Challenge, 5 Senior Tour events and 2 Asian Tour events,” Suthee said. “After that I plan to have training programmess for golfers, referees, teaching pros and professional caddies. I want to see development of the whole system and will set up a foundation to help members who are in dire need,” he said.
