After filing for divorce last week, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are not only fighting for the custody of their six children, but for a lot more.
At the top of the list, apart from the children obviously, are the artworks estimated to be worth US$25 million.
According to the list of top 10 Hollywood art collectors released by Wealth-X in 2015, Pitt occupied the seventh spot. Both Pitt and Jolie never stopped collecting art pieces during the years they were together.
One the works they bought together was “Love is in the Air Unsigned”, a piece by noted graffiti artist Banksy. It was acquired by the couple at Lazarides gallery in London in 2007 for one million pounds (Bt50 million). It is said that Pitt is close to Banksy.
“Etappe” by German artist Neo Rauch, was bought by the couple for $1 million during the 2009 Art Basel.
When Jolie and Pitt got married in 2014, they received valuable art as wedding presents including the “Hope” series of paintings by British street artist Dom Pattinson. And in addition to building their art collection, the couple had close contact with many artists and often invited them to their house to teach their children fine arts.
Like other celebrities such as Benedict Cumberbatch and Damon Albarn, Jolie and Pitt collected a version of the famous art piece “Boy Soldier” by British artist Schoony.
According to a report in British newspaper The Guardian, Canadian artist Marcel Dzama’s pieces were quite popular among celebrities. Brad Pitt is one of his fans, and his piece “The Queen’s Profile” created in 2010 was also part of their collection.
