Thai players' campaign on the clay of Roland Garros came to a predictable end with first-round defeat for Tamarine Tanasugarn in the women's singles on Monday.

The 35-year-old Tammy, who was playing her first match since February’s WTA Pattaya Open due to health problems, was trounced by clay-court specialist and 2008 quarter-finalist Carla Suarez Navarro 6-0 6-3.
The other two Thais rolling the dice at the French Open were Danai Udomchoke in men’s qualifying and Noppawan Lertcheewakarn in women’s qualifying. However, the Kingdom’s contingent won a combined total of eight games in the slam, with Danai losing 6-1 6-0 to Martin Alund of Argentina and Noppawan downed 6-0 6-4 by Switzerland’s Stefanie Voegele.
