Alice and Olivia goes back to the '90s for its new collection

NEW YORK CITY-based contemporary clothing brand Alice and Olivia combines the fashions of the late 90’s music scene with romance in its pre-autumn collection, which has now arrived in Bangkok.
The collection is a nod to the groupies of the decade, effortlessly cool girls who loved music, travelled with the band, hung out backstage and danced all night. The free-spirited vibe of the time is reflected in the use of texture, print, embroidery and embellishments especially on the mini dresses, the signature flares and the caftans mixed with studded denim, beaded jackets and leather bombers.
Rich dark ground prints contrast with bold mini floral while pops of ivy and salmon solids are anchored by warm camel, cream, champagne and sapphire. There is richness in the embroidery and lightness in burnout that act as prints. Ruffles and velvet bring a flirty spirit to the collection, providing a romantic twist to the modern festival uniform.
From romantic slip dresses and ruffled tops to boho jackets and knit ponchos, fashonistas will have fun layering pieces, combining fun and quirky knits and tees with ball gown skirts and bringing kimonos, vests and jeans into one look.
Looks are tied together through floral accessories that top off the collection. An intricate crossbody bag covered in colourful flowers is perfect for the girl in the leather backstage while a clutch in the same print elevates the look of the classic slip dress.
And the brand’s eyewear collection, which made its debut in February, is also now available in Thailand. Following the announcement of their long-term licensing agreement with New York based eyewear company Eponym last year, the two teams collaborated to design a playful assortment of eyewear.
Reminiscent of designer and chief executive Stacey Bendet’s “Stace Face” look, the collection consists of handmade Italian acetate sunglasses in bold shapes including oversized cat eye, square, and 80’s inspired round frames. Swarovski crystals, stainless steel studs and pops of colour bring original elements to the fun silhouettes.
With Bendet’s long-time love of eyewear evidenced through her signature oversized shades, the extension into eyewear is a natural progression for the brand. The collection consists of 16 styles of sunglasses including a signature “Stacey” frame in the classic oversized round shape Bendet traditionally adorns. Most styles come in various colours with all frames ranging in price from Bt9,000 to Bt21,500.
