Inet, NetApp join for cloud service

Inet has joined hands with NetApp to provide cloud services to the enterprise market with the goal of growing sales by more than 30 per cent this year.

Morragot Kulatumyotim, managing director of Internet Thailand, said yesterday that the company will offer a broad range of value-added services and solutions designed for customers in both the public and private sectors, such as SCG and the Electronic Government Agency.

Weera Areeratanasak, manager of NetApp (Thailand), said the firm will provide FlexPod, a converged computing, networking and storage solution developed by Cisco and NetApp, to help boost cloud services to the enterprise market. The solution is an alternative way for enterprises to enter the cloud. The cloud will help enterprises save at least 60 per cent on information technology operating expenses and investment.

During the past three years, the firm has spent about Bt600 million to lay down information technology infrastructure and it now has two data centres in the Bangkok Thai Tower and Thai Summit Tower with 3,000 square metres of space.

Inet will also build up a software workforce to support cloud services and the software industry. Together with King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, it is preparing on cloud service courses for master’s degree computer science students for next semester.

"We are now acting as an ‘infrastructure as a service’ provider and we will also work together with our business partner to provide ‘platform as a service’ and ‘software as a service’ to the market, such as SAP as a service," she said.

The firm last year posted revenue of about Bt380 million and this year expects to double market growth from cloud services.
