Asia Precision Plc stands ready to take orders for high-precision metal parts for vehicles as its plant in Chon Buri has not been affected by the flood, while several flood-hit parts makers have had to shut down temporarily.

“Major producers have been starting to search for plants that can fill demand, and this gives us an opportunity,” president Apichart Karoonkornsakul said yesterday.
“Next year, the automobile industry will stage a recovery. Since the floods are causing production halts, next year we will make more products to compensate for the orders lost during the flooding period,” he said.
The auto industry should resume assembly quickly after the floods recede and the company could gain a large number of orders.
Major customers will likely shift to placing orders with parts suppliers that were not affected by the floods, he said.
The company’s plant, which is at Amata City Industrial Estate, also produces parts for compressors and digital cameras.
Asia Precision posted a 10.35-per-cent rise in its third-quarter net profit to Bt30.96 million after the auto industry got over the disasters that hit Japan in March. In the first nine months of this year, its net profit was Bt96.3 million.
About 33 per cent of the company’s sales are parts for autos, 29 per cent for motorcycles, 22 per cent for digital cameras and 14 per cent for compressors.
