Oppo plans major expansion in Thailand amid steady growth

China’s leading smartphone brand Oppo is strengthening its position in the Thai market with an eye on future success.

In just eight years since entering the Thai market, Oppo has become the third-ranked smartphone in the country. On its 8th year anniversary in Thailand, Oppo is doubling staffing and increasing the number of its stores.

This is largely attributable to the runaway success of Oppo’s F1s, which is currently enjoying a steady month-on-month growth in sales in Thailand, becoming the bestselling model in the Bt8,000-Bt10,000 market, according to sales figures from Jaymart, TG Phone, CSC and other Thai electronic stores.

By the end of 2016, Oppo will have reinforced its Thai team from 2,000 to 4,000 personnel, and increased the number of Oppo stores from 5,000 to 8,000.

Oppo aims to increase the number of its customer service centres in Thailand to 35, although all 8,000 OPPO stores in Thailand will be able to provide customer service.

Leo Zhao, sales director of Oppo (Thailand) said that Thailand was the first country outside of China where Oppo has expansion plans, and expects the relationship to get even stronger in the future.

“Oppo is absolutely committed to the Thai market, and the past eight years’ growth has ultimately been supported by Thai customers, so, we want to thank them by continuing to provide them with great products and services,” said Zhao.
