Some say that vision is made by individuals, but accomplishments come from teamwork.

It may sound like the Liverpool slogan, but in the workplace, you will never work alone. Working in a team, you will always have some or the other person to suggest you good things. Suggestions and advice can help you in generating new ideas and bring out the creativity in you.
Sittirut Mekaroonkamol, deputy account director, marketing and sales department at Huawei Technologies (Thailand), appreciates the value of teamwork. He applies his motto “together we can” to every activity in life, including his activity during leisure time – playing with a music band.
Being in love with rhythm, Sittirut started playing many instruments such as bass guitar and drum on his own since he was young. His band, A La Jeab Band, once won CU Music Awards (Chulalongkorn University Musical Contest)
He dreams that one day he will be able to play as well as his idol, Joe Morello – a jazz drummer best known for his 12-year stint with The Dave Brubeck Quartet.
Nowadays, Sittirut still enjoys playing as a part of his corporate band named “Wanna Broke”. He says the name comes from their good humour and sarcastic attitude towards life and social status.
It has been three years now since “Wanna Broke Band” started playing at many corporate events, including a recent New Year party. Consequently, Sittirut has become pretty popular in his organisation. However, he considers this a success of teamwork, not that of an individual.
“Drumming seems to be the most important one in the band, as it controls all the rhythm. So concentration is very essential. However, teamwork is also important as you cannot do a one-man show when playing as a band and this is where the success come from,” he explains.
Beyond being a fun and a creative outlet, he says that playing the drums carries with it several tangible benefits. Drumming is helpful in relieving stress and improving physical and mental well-being. And it does work for him.
With an engineering background, he has been trained to find solutions with good logic behind them. However, working in marketing and sales is different. It needs creative ideas involving the art of persuasion. As a result, he applies the art of teamwork and music to inspire him come up with many creative marketing and sales plans.
“When a team outgrows individual performance and learns team confidence, excellence becomes a reality,” he says.
