The move is part of BEC’s preparations to expand its content production for digital terrestrial TV broadcasting in the near future.
Vice president Voravat Maleenont said yesterday that social media would be the top priority for the My3Space website this year after two years of operations |saw a 30-per-cent surge in viewer participation.
Three mobile applications have been launched for the iPhone and iPad. My3Space provides entertainment programmes from ThaiTV3. My3News offers up-to-date news from Krob Krua Khao news programmes. Magic3 will act as a communications channel between BEC’s sales and marketing department and advertising agencies.
A social game has been developed for Facebook that allows players to act as an avatar of famous stars of ThaiTV3 dramas.
The new media strategy is to enable ThaiTV3 to retain existing viewers and gain new generation viewers once third-generation wireless broadband and digital terrestrial television broadcasting are fully implemented.
The My3Space unit also produces its own exclusive programming for its website and applications, on top of reruns developed from news and entertainment shows on ThaiTV3.
This production is a part of preparations for a new digital channel in the future.
Though BEC declined to comment on how much it spends on this unit, Voravat said the company would realise advertising income from the unit this year.
BEC has contracted Index Creative Online, a subsidiary of Index Creative Village, to develop My3Space.com and new media platform services.
The website and mobile applications are aimed at deepening the engagement of viewers and advertisers with key assets of ThaiTV3, including TV programmes as well as actors, actress, singers, news anchors and reporters.
