With this in mind, Tune Hotels, Asia’s emerging force in award-winning "value on a budget" hotel development, has launched a regional community project to beautify the neighbourhoods in which it operates.
The "Neighbours in Tune" community-beautification project was launched in March in Tune Hotels across Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia in a unique community initiative undertaken by the hotel group.
In Thailand, a key development market for the rapidly expanding budget-hotel brand, Tune Hotels in Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket and Hat Yai engaged in a raft of activities with local partners to make neighbourhoods look better, and neighbours feel better.
Mark Armsden, senior vice president for sales and marketing of Red Planet Hotels, which operates Tune Hotels in Thailand, said it was important to not only provide innovative new hotel options to leisure and business travellers but to be equally creative in the contribution made to the community.
"We are delighted to roll out ‘Neighbours in Tune’ and it has been encouraging to not only join with local officials who have been tremendously supportive but with the local communities that turned out in force to help along with guests in our hotels also participating.
"We very much see ourselves as long term partners, fully committed to the communities in which we operate. This is just the beginning. We look forward to doing more in Tune's neighbourhoods and communities in the future," he said.
In the South, Tune Hotel Hat Yai joined hands with Songkhla Municipality, Odean Shopping Mall, Diana Shopping Mall and Haad Tip Company, where a 40-strong team planted trees at Laem Son Aon Lake.
Meanwhile, at Tune Hotel Patong in Phuket, the group was joined by Simon Cabaret Show and Kathu’s chief district officer, Veera Kerdsirimongkol, who headed to the famous beachfront, brooms in hand, to clean debris and garbage off the beach.
Tune Hotel Pattaya partnered with the Civil Defence Association, led by Eakkasith Tanyakarn, and Sawangboriboon Foundation Pattaya City’s Prasit Thongthitcharoen, while the Duang Pratheep Foundation teamed up with Tune Hotel Asoke in Bangkok and painted the Community Heath and Development Centre in the Bon Kai community.
