JCB, a leading credit card in Japan, sets to grow the number of its Platinum cards issued to Thai customers to 1 million in 2016, cashing in on the popularity of tourist destinations in Japan as well as Japanese restuarants in Thailand.

"The number of tourist to Japan is increasing year by year and it is estimated to reach 1 million in 2016. As a Japanese brand, JCB would like to offer more privileges and services related with Japan,” said Naoya Michishima, managing director of JCB International (Thailand).
In 2016, the company will celebrate the 18th anniversary of its presence in the Thai market. In 2015, the company witnessed a 20 per cent increase in the number of cards and transaction value, compared with the level in 2014.
Platinum cards are now issued through its Thai partners like Krungthai Card (KTC), AEON Thana Sinsap (Thailand), and Krungsri Card. The cards offer a 10 per cent discount at restaurants in Thailand and a discount on rental pocket WiFi and free airport lounge access in Japan and other destinations like China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, and Hawaii.
"The basic concept for this Platinum service is that JCB would like to be the bridge between Thailand and Japan," Michishima said.
