Under Mitsumata’s leadership, Jetro Bangkok says it will continue to promote economic relations, particularly in trade and investment, between Thailand and Japan.
He views connectivity with neighbouring countries and the region as crucial for expanding mutual trade and investment partnerships, it said.
Jetro says it is pleased to join hands with Thailand to play pivotal roles to boost prosperity and sustainable development.
Mitsumata joined Japan’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry, now the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, in 1987.
Throughout his extensive career of almost 30 years at METI, he has served many key positions related to policy areas such as the economy, industry, information technology, energy and environment, promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises, and intellectual property.
He worked as special assistant to the director-general of the Economic and Industrial Policy Bureau from 2004-06, director of the Nuclear Energy Policy Division of the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy from 2009-11, director of the Information Policy Division of the Commerce and Information Policy Bureau from 2011-13, and director for policy coordination under the SME Agency from 2013-14. Before coming to Jetro Bangkok, he was deputy director-general for technology and environment at the Industrial Science and Technology Policy and Environment Bureau of METI.
