Intel Logistics Co, which specialises in transporting dangerous items, is conducting a study on listing on the stock exchange, while planning to invest more than Bt100 million for expansion of its container-logistics business.
Of the planned investment, Bt90 million will be used to acquire land in Rayong province and the rest for developing it.
Chief executive officer Yothin Trangansri said the company was also studying whether to partner with PTT Polymer Logistics on transporting plastic pellets through containers for export.
“We have transported plastic pellets for PTT Polymer Logistics for a long time. Now it has apolicy [is an appropriate time] for us to upgrade our service,” he said.
Intel Logistics is developing land for storage of containers before transporting them to Laem Chabang and Map Ta Phut ports for export. It expects the container yard to be in service commencement before the end of this year.
Yothin said there continued to be bright prospects for hazardous-items logistics service, but there was a shortage of qualified drivers

NBTC wants integrated power line laws
The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission has proposed that the government integrate all laws governing the burial of utility lines.
Many state agencies are involved in the plan including the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and the Rural Roads Department.
Besides Bangkok, the government plans to move all aerial power-transmission and telecommunication lines underground in many provinces such as Nan, Nong Khai, Nakhon Phanom, Khon Kaen, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Ayutthaya, as well as in Hat Yai district of Songkhla and Koh Samui in Surat Thani.
Korkij Danchaivichit, deputy secretary-general of the NBTC, said it was part of the NBTC’s long-term plan to integrate laws to facilitate policy.
The NBTC has already assigned TOT to spearhead the work to move telecom lines underground nationwide.
The NBTC has also drafted regulations to govern the usage and construction of the viaducts for housing the communication lines of the state agencies.
On June 29, the NBTC, the BMA, TOT, the Royal Thai Police and the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) signed a cooperative agreement to remove electricity and telecom lines from above ground.
The MEA has already finished the pilot project on some main roads, including Phaholyothin Road.
Last September, the Cabinet approved a budget of Bt48.72 billion to bury 127.3 kilometres of utility lines within Greater Bangkok over 10 years to make the capital area safer and more beautiful.
However, the government has since asked the MEA to shorten the plan from 10 years to five years.
