MUDMAN (MM), operator of a number of international restaurant brands in Thailand, plans to open a branch of its Greyhound Cafe brand in Britain and use it as a springboard for expansion in Europe through franchising, it said in a statement yesterday.

It also aims to increase the number of Greyhound Cafe outlets in mainland China, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore and strike franchising deals for one or two new markets per year, including in Europe.
It also seeks to increase the number of Greyhound Cafes in Thailand through franchising, as well as expand its M-Kitchen cafeteria-management business to cover new establishments and increase the number of Dunkin’ Donuts, Au Bon Pain and Baskin Robbins stores.
Yesterday, Mudman debuted on the Market for Alternative Investment.
The company said the listing was aimed at strengthening its financial capability, enhancing its competitiveness as part of its long-term business-expansion plan, and adding value for the group.
Nadim Xavier Salhani, MM’s chief executive officer, said that under its initial public offering, 210,980,750 capital-increase ordinary shares were issued to shareholders of Sub Sri Thai Plc, who exercised their pre-emptive rights, the underwriters’ patrons and institutional investors for Bt5.25 a share.
Nadim said the IPO shares represented 20 per cent of MM’s issued and paid-up capital.
The company plans to expand the number of Greyhound Cafe outlets in Thailand by up to 22 by 2020, with up to Bt20 million earmarked for each store.
MM plans to grow the number of its businesses run under master franchise agreements.
It hopes to increase the number of Dunkin’ Donuts branches by 12-15 per year, Au Bon Pain by five or six a year, and Baskin Robbins by between three and five per year.
By the end of 2020, it expects as many as 355 Dunkin’ Donuts outlets to be in operation, along with 96 Au Bon Pains and 54 Baskin Robbins stores.
Last year, the company recorded revenue of Bt2.99 billion and a net loss Bt168.32 millionBt168.32 million.
