Lately, though, Korn says he’s been “forced” to watch the Channel 3 soap opera “Rang Ngao” because Jay wanted to see why it’s such a big hit with the gang on Twitter and Facebook, who get frenzied every Monday and Tuesday when it airs.
Within a few episodes, Jay was pretty much caught up in the moving story of a high-ranking government official who plays around with mistresses. No, she wasn’t getting suspicious about her husband the former Finance Minister. She just developed a woman’s empathy for the ignored wife.
Still, Korn must be squirming, sitting there watching the show with Jay.
It’s Insta-Q&A
Instagram is gaining ground as another e-method of tracking Thai celebrities and linking up with like-minded fans. The stars are also using it to drum up publicity, though their followers can get pretty nosy.
Why, for example, did Araya “Chompoo” Hargate post a photo on Instagram of her diamond ring? The press and fans immediately assumed she’d got engaged to boyfriend Wirarut “Knot” Rangsisingpipat.
It turned out that Chompoo had bought the ring as a gift to herself. No one else would buy her one, so she bought it herself, she joked (we think). “But don’t ask me the price, please,” she said.
Folks asked when they’d get to see the ring on her finger. Only on certain occasions, she said. “Like today, if I have to go to the TV set, I won’t wear it.”
Fair enough. Everyone’s questions were answered. Hey, maybe we ought to demand that all politicians have an Instagram account so we can scrutinise them the same way.
