New at the Paragon, the boutique makes |mixing and matching fun

Less fastidious shoppers know that, contrary to popular belief, Bangkok has never offered every designer brand under the sun. It does now, though, with Contemp Salon opening a women’s multi-label designer store at Siam Paragon and planning to open a “pop-up store” at the Emporium next year.
Thirty lofty brand names await your mix-and-match choices, including Joseph, Vanessa Bruno, Richard Nicoll, Paul&Joe, MSGM, Sass & Bide, Manish Arora, See by Chloe, House of Holland, Markus Lupfer, Tibi and MM6.
You can also find 10 Crosby by Derek Lam, Emma Cook, Shourouk, Mawi, Iosellianni, Falllon, Bex Rox, Veronique Branquinho, Robert Clergerie, Paula Cademartori and Pollini by Nicholas Kirkwood.
Mall Group executive Parisa Buranasamrit says the overall concept at Contemp Salon is to bring in the very latest designs in clothing and accessories. “They’re guaranteed to be creative, chic and high quality by fashion editors overseas like Anna Dello Russo.”
Stylist Apiwat Yosparpan was at the recent Paragon launch showing four fresh clothing styles with the help of Alisa Aswapokin, Rawiwan Tanaka, Chollaka Kengradomying and Pinpanee Isarangkul Na Ayuthaya.
“Modern” was minimalist and neat, yet full of fascinating details from Tibi, 10 Crosby and Joseph, while “Femininity” was for modern women who care about fabrics – Apiwat used silk, organza, sequin, lace and beautiful prints from Vanessa Bruno, Richard Nicoll and Paul & Joe.
“Edgy” was chic and sassy for distinctive wearers, with prints layered on prints from MSGM, Emma Cook, MM6, House of Holland and Markus Lupfer. And “Statement” celebrated details like embroidery and perforations in outfits by Sass&Bide and Manish Arora.
Apiwat said the boom in multi-brand stores means that shoppers have no excuse not to create outfits themselves that reflect their character.
“Fashion has no rules,” he said. “Designers pay attention to quality, neat cutting, refined materials and creative designs. There are lots of clothes now that make the wearer look young and show off their figure.
“Getting the right size might be a bit of a disadvantage in a multi-brand store, though – the choice is quite limited – but when you want to dress beautifully, attitude is more important than size. Mixing and matching is really fun here, and, as I showed with the ‘Statement’ look, sometimes you need only one key piece to catch people’s eye.”
