No dust on singer-actor Pakin “Tono” Kamwilaisak as he becomes the first alumnus of television’s “The Star” to form a rock band, namely Tono and the Dust. No dust on the Dust either – they’ve got two singles out and have begun playing in nightclubs.
“I just wanted to do what I love best, and when the chance came up to form a group I grabbed it,” he says. The solo celebrity thing doesn’t appeal to him. The group’s name contains his name “just for the initial period to get people’s attentions – we’ll eventually just be called the Dust”.
At the outset the various members from different backgrounds needed something to break the ice, Tono says, so during a rehearsal that was being recorded on video, he suggested that everyone take off their clothes and play in just their underwear. “Yes, it did feel awkward at the beginning, but ultimately it worked.”
Let’s just be patient now until someone leaks the video. You absolutely know it’s going to happen.
Boss steams up
Best not dally if you want a copy of KBank chief Banthoon Lamsam’s debut novel, “The Seductive Spell of Lanna”. Only 5,000 copies were printed, he bought 50 to give to friends, and his employees were lining up for copies.
The fantasy novel weaves episodes from Banthoon’s life into historical observations about the Eastern Lanna Kingdom in Nan a long time ago. He spent two hours telling 99 invited guests all about it at last week’s launch, which KBank staff watched live via closed circuit and then formed a long queue for autographed copies.
Well, you’d want one too if your boss had cast himself as a character who’s more than a little romantic. “When you write a love story it’s inevitably going to be erotic because love and sex go together,” he said, not even blushing when he mentioned that his character has eight wives.
He merely giggled while admonishing readers, “Please don’t just flip to the erotic part!”
