After joining the Spanish La Liga side on a season-long loan earlier this month, the 26-year-old returned with his new club for a fixture arranged by the Spanish League body as part of “LFP World Challenge” to promote Spanish football.
Having already made his appearance as a substitute in Almeria’s first two pre-season matches, scoring three goals in the process, Teerasil is now set to get a run-out from the start in today’s fixture.
“Certainly, I plan to field Mui [Teerasil’s nickname] tomorrow. I’m sure he would be happy to play in a game against his former club,” Almeria’s manager Francisco Rodriguez told the pre-match conference yesterday when asked by Thai press whether Teerasil would get a start.
Sitting beside his Spanish coach, Teerasil said he would not celebrate should he score a goal against Muangthong, the club where his goals drove them to three domestic league titles.
“It’s a strange feeling to play as a visiting side at the ground where I spent many years playing for Muangthong. I still don’t know what to do but I think I would try not to celebrate too much if I score a goal.”
Teerasil, whose Almeria move came after a short training spell with La Liga champions Atletico Madrid last year, said he has not set a particular target for his first season at Almeria.
“I don’t expect to get a first-team place and I don’t know how many goals I would score or how many games I would play. I know it’s not easy [playing for Almeria]. But, I would give it all and let’s see how it turns out," said Teerasil, who has an option of making his move permanent depending on his performances.
