The recent cycle race marking the 2014 edition of the Tour de France is declared a great success

More than 500 cyclists turned out to take part in the second 100-kilometre “Road to Tour de France Thailand” race from Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam in Nakhon Nayok organised by satellite TV provider GMM Z to promote interest in and celebrate the annual French event.
Riders included celebrities Arunnapa “Panichjaroon Wan Wan”, Jeffrey Benjakul, Putthipong “Leo Putt” Sriwat, Pawin “Pong Moderndog” Suwannacheep, Jittrin “DJ Jem” Kulkalayadee of 94 EFM, Ake Krisnavarin and his wife Korrapin, Jaturong “X Hijack” Kolimas, Chokchai Charoensuk, Thanarat “Teru” Jiarapanpong as well as Dew Woratangtrakul, chief operations officer of GMM Z and Nakhon Nayok governor Dr Tawee Narisirikul.
This year, the race was more challenging as the competitors followed the same rules as the world-famous cycling event and pedalled for the entire 100km without a rest. They passed through a series of interesting tourist attractions from the dam including the Phra Naresuan roundabout, Khao Yai National Park and several temples and communities.
Prizes were awarded to the winners of the Sprint, Trail and Mountain stages, with Patrick Dubravica easily taking the Sprint and Trail sections and Worasit Thadanukulwattana wining the Mountain Stage.
GMM Z will broadcast Spain’s major cycling event, the Vuelta a Espana 2014, on the Euro Sport Channel 372 from August 23 to September 14.
