Handsome Sean Jindachot has become one of the hottest actors on TV thanks to his sparkling lead turn in the hit series “Lae Ratee” on GMM One, but his appeal also reaches deep into the bookworm crowd.
Last year Sean wrote an autobiography of sorts called “The Present Perfect” (“Phrua Wan Nee Dee Tee Sud Laew”), in which he recounts people he’s met and times he’s experienced. “It’s not a motivational kind of book, but it offers some truths about life,” he writes in the introduction.
It’s certainly motivated readers, though, and there’ll soon be a second edition. But don’t give all the credit to Sean’s good looks and his popularity on the small screen – he’s quite a good writer, not just a celebrity publishing a book on a whim.
It was Wongthanong Chainarongsingh, the founder of A Day magazine and the publishing firm it spawned, who spotted Sean’s gift with words while following the actor’s Instagram posts (@seanjindachot), which are mainly about what he’s doing every day. Duly impressed by his turns of phrase, Wongthanong offered to put more of the same in book form, and soon they had a best-seller on their hands.
And where does Sean pick up his writing talent? Here’s something Wongthanong and Sean’s fans might not know – and a lesson for all young aspiring scribes: He’s a good reader. His five favourite, most inspiring books are all best-sellers, SEA Write Award winners or classics. They include “Pan Maa Baa” by Chat Kobjitti, “Prachatippatai Bon Sen Kanan” by Win Liewwarin and “Sing Mahatsajan Thammada” by Roundfinger.
Asked about his plans to write another book, Sean says he certainly will – sooner or later. “I’ve already got an idea, but the book definitely won’t be coming out this year. Not too long but not too soon,” he says. Meanwhile he’d love to have more people reading his first book as much as he hopes they look forward to reading his second.
