Multi-brand store uncensored opens at EmQuartier

LUXURY STREET FASHION from all over the globe recently arrived in Bangkok with the opening of Uncensored at the new EmQuartier shopping mall on Sukhumvit.
Located on the first floor of the Helix Quartier, the store is home to 20 different brands including a pop-up store by French label Ami, the first in Southeast Asia, as well as a corner dedicated to Danish luxury sport brand Wood Wood, also making its Asian debut.
The grand opening was marked by a live sculpture performance that presented the latest collections from the brands, while the store’s website UncensoredSpace.com was officially introduced through an interactive machine, manned by the models to allow shoppers to enjoy buying the items not on offer in the store. Among those joining the event were Wood Wood co-founder and head designer Karl Oskar Olsen, and several Thai celebrities.
Sirikanya Chansakulporn, managing director, defines luxury street fashion as something that can be worn in everyday life, whether to work or on vacation.
“Street fashion can match everyone who’s confident and wants to have fun. In life, there are already so many rules, so what we wear should allow us to be ourselves and not be defined by rules. Uncensored continues to source stylish offerings, and we are preparing to bring in two more brands.”
The multi-brand store is home to selected collections from American brands Gitman Bros, Vintage, Thakoon Addition, Opening Ceremony, and Pamela Love. Toga Pulla, Surface to Air, Ami, and March LA.B hail from France while Britain makes it presence felt through YMC, Markus Lupfer, Preen and J JS Lee. Joining them are the Danish brands Henrik Vibskov and Wood Wood, Stine Goya, and Libertine Libertine, Swedish brands Minimarket, Happy Socks and Sandqvist, the Australian brand Pam German brand Kaweco, and Hungarian brand YKRA.
The grand opening was on the theme Sophisticate Street and reflected the fusion of high street fashion brands in a powerful way. The store is decorated in Scandinavian style, with luxurious touches like a chandelier, and classic elements like the woodwork. Another highlight is the simulation of the Ami shop at 22 Rue de Grenelle in Paris, with its chequered black and wooden floor and large mirrors. Wood Wood from Copenhagen has magnified its famous print from 2001 to decorate its corner.
Each brand’s collection is inspired by art, music, film, and culture from the ‘60s to the ’90s and interpreted into quirky prints and summer silhouettes, such as the AA signature print from Wood Wood, British schoolboy stripes, arrow-struck hearts and smiley icon Happy Ami from Ami, twisted fluorescent tropical prints from Opening Ceremony and digitally scanned pressed petals by J JS Lee.
Among the classic looks are bomber jackets, short-sleeved shirts, chino pants, and jersey dresses. Fabrics include mesh, laminated cotton and a waterproof material from Opening Ceremony that should delight wearers during the rainy season.
