MORE THAN 8,000 energetic fans turned out to Siam Paragon’s Royal Paragon Hall last week for the four-hour marathon, “BDay Dance Party” organised by the three guys – Kamol Sukosol Clapp aka Sukie, Boyd Kosiyabong and Somkiat “Mr Z” Ariyachaipanich – who gave Thailand Bakery Music and plenty more besides.
Sukie opened the first part of the eight-segment show and segued into the second with “MDB” – short for Monkey Disco Boy – with an energetic DJ set and pulsating lights.
As Sukie finished, Stamp made his way on to stage singing his hit “Man Khong Pen Khwam Rak”. He was followed by a succession of stars including Q Flure with “Kan Lae Kan”, Boy Trai with “Klub Ma”, and Nop Pornchamni with “Pler”. Applause and screams greeted Gene Kasidit who performed “Kep Khwam Wa Rak” and “Float”, followed by Rik Wachirapilan with “Within” and Pod Moderndog with “Desire”, “Tim” and “Busaba”.
The soloists gave way to the bands with Burin Boonvisut singing “Last Chance” and “Superstar”, Yokee Playboy performing “Phrom Likhit” and “Khuen Nee Khor Hom” and Boy Trai choosing “Chua Mong Tong Mon” and “Khwam Lub”, Be Peerapat sang “Khwam Jing Nai Jai” and “Phood Trong Trong” then the lads joined up for a rendition of Burin’s “Yood”.
The stars went acoustic for the fourth part of the show, with Stamp returning to the stage for “Kal Khrang Nueng”, Boyd Kosiyabong and Sukie singing “Ja Kep Ther Yoo Nai Jai Samer”, Nop performing “Dokmai”, and Q Flure and Pod Moderndog closing out with “Rawang Rao” and “Bang Sing” respectively.
Rock outfit Pru, back briefly together after a hiatus of more than a decade, thrilled the crowd with “Rak Khun”, “Khae”, “Thuk Sing” and “Romeo & Juliet.”
The audience was back on its feet dancing again with a set of songs from the artists of Lazerface, a leading electronic records label in Thailand. They opened with the show by Deno & SS on “Raeng Ah”, “Wai Ah Pao Baeb Nee”, and “Drop It Loud” and followed up with Boom Boom Cash playing “Forever Young”, “One Life”, “Drink and Drunk”, “Mia Mai Mee”, and “Blur Blur.”
And the crowd wasn’t about to get a rest, as Mr Z performed a likely DJ solo set before jamming with Triumph Kingdom on “Thod”, “Rak Rak Rak”, “Pha Ched Na” as well as with Rudklao Amratisha on “Kep Wan Dee”, “Jai Tang Jai” and “Jai Song Jai”.
The concert closed out with a flamboyant “Gay Party”. Sukie’s mum, Kamala Sukosol performed “Live & Learn” with the audience singing along before handing over to Gene Kasidit and Ben Chalathit for a set that including “Dancing Queen”, “Gay Night”, “Khon Khang Lang” and “I Will Survive.”
The four-hour show came to an end with all artists on stage for a reprise of“Season Change” and “Lom Hai Jai”.
