Give your health a much-needed New Year boost with luxury dishes based on Oolong blends

1823 Tea Lounge by Ronnefeldt welcomes 2016 by inviting patrons to fight off health problems with a range of delicious dishes based on the finest Oolong tea.
Among the special healthy dishes and drinks made from different types of Oolong tea is Da Hong Pao Oolong Tea Kingfish carpaccio (Bt380), a beetroot-marinated carpaccio of mackerel smoked with Da Hong Pao tea and served with sour mango passion fruit dressing.
The Foie gras torchon with Bangkok Blend Tea Dressing (Bt520) is served with brioche, roasted caramelised pears and fruity Bangkok Blend Oolong dressing mixed with papaya and pineapple. For those who prefer fish to meat, there’s Superior Oolong Smoked Salmon (B480), where the salmon is smoked with superior Oolong tea and coated with herb butter crust, pesto sauce and cherry tomato salsa.
Wash the food down with an Oriental Lover mocktail (Bt190), a refreshing blend of Oriental Oolong tea, pineapple juice, passion fruit juice and lime juice or a Bangkok Smile (Bt190), made with Tie Guan Yin Oolong tea, lychee juice, passion fruit juice and a shot of lime.
Finish the meal with Oolong-infused scones served with imported clotted cream and home-made jam.
Located on the first floor of Gaysorn mall, Ronnefeldt’s first full-scale tearoom serves more than 70 premium hand-crafted Ronnefeldt teas comprising the highest-grade leaves from the world’s most prominent tea gardens. The brand was established in 1823 in Frankfurt by Johann Tobias, who developed his passion and knowledge for tea during his journeys to Rotterdam and London.
His first customers were the hotels frequented by Russian dignitaries around Frankfurt and soon he was supplying the Russian Tsar. The teas are prepared by plucking only two leaves and one bud – the youngest and mildest part of the tea plant.
The 160-square-metre lounge boasts a gold vaulted ceiling rising in the centre, a long black marble counter of tempting pastries and a storage wall of tea tins. Both inside and outside dining is available.
