Now WTF Cafe and Gallery is marking its seventh anniversary by hosting “What the Festival”, a series of programmes on the theme Never Never Land”. The event kicks off on April 28 at 8 with Bangkok Poetry, a reading series hosted by Wesley Hsu that’s devoted to the lyrical, the risky and the unexpected.
WTF has also invited 12 local and international artists to imagine a world (either utopian or dystopian) through artwork that examines what the world would be like if one of the fundamental elements of how it operates suddenly disappeared. The works will be on show from April 29 to June 20. The participating artists are Prakit Kobkijwattana, Tada Hengsapkul, Saran Yen Panya, Wasted Rita, Kathy Macleod, Colin Cheney, Liam Morgan, Sakarin Krue-on, Takerng Pattanopas, Wasinburee Supanichvoraparch, Jakkai Siributr and Varsha Nair.
A street mural by Marc Stuart will be launched on April 29 at 8. Stuart, who was born in 1985 in Barcelona moved to Bangkok in 2010, studied graphic design and has worked in this field ever since. He is co-founder of KUOZ, a creative studio located in Bangkok’s Klong San district and his work has been published in different publications including Computer Arts and LeCool.
Film screenings of “Metropolis” and “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” will be arranged on April 29 from 8pm onwards with “Delicatessen” and “Utopia” following on April 30.
Bangkok’s two most prominent club promoters – Note from Dudesweet and Jojo Trasher – join the celebration on April 29, teaming up for the first time ever from 9pm.On April 30, DJs Jorge Carlos Smith, Bullit (Jarret Wrisley) and Paolo Vitaletti will party with an electric mash up of old school funk, tropical Italian disco and rap/hip-hop from 4pm.
