Serena Brancale: Much more than jazz

The Italian Festival in Thailand continues on Wednesday (May 24) at 7pm with a concert by the Serena Brancale jazz quartet at the Thailand Cultural Centre.

And it’s not just jazz.
Brancale’s music has been described as a “melting pot of genres, sounds and ideas”, ranging from jazz and soul to funk, R&B and ballads.
The young singersongwriter from Bari is one of the most talented voices to have recently emerged in Italy. She’s caught the attention of refined jazz purists and pop fans alike, demonstrating not only an extraordinary vocation for jazz but also a strong inclination to other sound frontiers.
The quartet, which caused a sensation at the 2015 famous Sanremo Music Festival, will hang around Bangkok and perform again on May 23 in the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit Hotel’s Living Room.
But this week’s show at the Cultural Centre is free admission. You only need register in advance, via the “ItalianFestivalThailand” Facebook page.
The Italian Festival is organised by the Italian Embassy and this year includes more than 50 events taking place throughout the year. See the Facebook page to discover what’s on offer, from classical music and opera to seminars, cinema, dance and “Made in Italy” product sales.
